Primary Sightings

• Indian Leopard – resident population, territorial individuals known by guides, very high sighting probability
• Mugger Crocodile – Jawai Bandh dam supports a significant population; best sighted in early morning near the banks

Regularly Seen

• Indian Jackal -highly active at dawn and dusk, often spotted in pairs near the village edges
• Nilgai (Blue Bull) – India’s largest antelope, frequently visible in open scrubland
• Jungle Cat – smaller and more elusive than the leopard, but recorded regularly by experienced guides
• Striped Hyena – nocturnal but occasionally spotted at the edge of the evening slot

Bird Species

• Migratory flamingos and pelicans at Jawai Bandh (seasonal, October–March)
• Indian Eagle-Owl – resident in granite overhangs, often located by guides during morning safaris
• Painted Stork, Indian Roller, Eurasian Hoopoe – commonly seen across the open terrain
• Osprey and other raptors – the dam attracts multiple fishing birds during winter months

• Neutral, earth-tone clothing – avoid bright colours or white against the rocky landscape; olive, khaki, grey, or brown works well
• A light jacket or shawl for early morning and post-sunset temperature drops – Rajasthan mornings are cooler than expected
• Water bottle, minimum 1.5 litres – the granite terrain reflects heat strongly in the afternoon
• Camera with zoom lens: 300mm or above is ideal for granite-distance leopard shots; 400–600mm for serious wildlife photography
• Binoculars – useful for scanning rock faces well before the jeep reaches sighting distance
• Sunscreen and sunglasses for both slots – pre-sunset afternoon glare is strong
• Closed-toe footwear for uneven jeep terrain
• Fully charged phone or power bank – expect to photograph more than anticipated
• Personal medication if needed – the terrain is bumpy enough to matter
